To Die For…Not for the Weak

November 4th, 2009 by Debra Laizure – Comments (21)

This dessert is called To Die For. I’m still alive but just barely! Inside this dangerous dessert is chocolate ganache, vanilla ice cream and the most amazing brownie. Check it out at the 2 Sisters Pub & Grill located in historic downtown Bartlesville at 110 SW Frank Phillips Blvd…if you dare.

No doubt! While you are there check out the Chicken Fried Rib-eye. It’s amazing.

As of tonight, there are TWO different sauces drizzled around the edge. Oh, and yes all of us who shared it agreed–that dessert is terrific.

The tillapia fillet and chicken wrap were both decent, but not amazing. Vegetable soup and spinach salad were up to big-city standards. Green beans were over-cooked by my taste. But beer menu is impressive. Decor is nice, with original dry-goods store balcony and ornate tin ceiling.

I’ll definitely go back there next time I’m in town.

I am sorry to hear that. We have had some growing pains since we opened in September but I feel confident that if you come again you will see that service has really come a long way!

Let me respond to Kyle. We to had a problem with the service at Two Sisters, but let me tell you Virginia not only stepped in but opened up to us about the servers in this town. They come in with every sob story you can emagine and beg for a job. Virginia gives them to oppurtunity to work, then on busy nights or weekends they dont show up or even bother to call in. We sat with a very distraught owner the night of the Christmas parade, because we were at the table where the server was to be. After opening her heart to us we knew she was genuine and wanted the best for her customers. We will return again and again knowing that we will be taken care of, even if the server has to be home with a sick goldfish or whatever.

I was shocked to see the previous comments. I thought the whole experience at two sisters was most excellent. The chicken fried rib eye is very good!!!!!! The beer selection is the best you will find. The atmosphere and the decor are above the rest. I had very good service from a little waitress named Trina. She was very informative and very friendly. I didn’t see a scowl on any workers faces or any standing around. The experience is one you should try !!!!!

I believe we have found the greatest addition to Downtown Bartlesville!! During our spring break last week we decided to have a little get together at 2 Sisters. Not only was the food superb,(we had the new shrimp scampi and ground sirloin) but the service was amazing! The amount of teamwork that we saw going on was neat because you don’t just find that anywhere and all the servers seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. We got to meet one of the sisters, Virginia who by the way was very busy in the kitchen. When talking to our server we found out that not only does V (as they call her), work in the kitchen but when she walks in the door in the morning she slips on a pair of gloves and scrubs both bathrooms herself, sweeps and mops the entire restaurant, and is there on Sunday to clean. I have never in my life heard of an owner doing this, and I’m not only amazed but impressed!! This place has such great potential and I know that if Virginia keeps up her hard work and determination it will be The Place to be!! We will be back on a weekly basis to enjoy everything 2 Sisters has to offer. Keep it up V

Thanks for your comments. We now have a new kitchen manager who previously ran the Price Tower restaurant kitchen so I have more time to spend on the floor. We look forward to seeing you again.

The service has been very, very slow the times I have been there. Maybe if you are in a small group it will be better–but any group with 6 or more in the party seems to have issues. Our orders were confused with other diners, etc.

HOWEVER–the Virginia’s Special Salad is wonderful–as are several other items. Great atmosphere.

    Blondie,

Thank you for visiting us. I am sorry your service was slow. We have appointed one of our best servers, Trina, to start an ongoing training program for all servers to address this issue. We work very hard to continue to improve our service and I hope your next visit will be a much better one. Thanks for the comments on the salad. I love fried potatoes and that’s my way of trying to make them healthier!

A+ on the food. It was an excellent spot. F- on the service.

We called in at 4:30 Saturday and we were told that they were booked up solid. But then they told us if we got there ASAP we could have a table, but had to leave by 6:30. No problems right? We got there before 5PM, and got promptly seated. The door girl was friendly and fantastic! Here is where the problems began. The place was empty upstairs where we were seated, except for the 6 of us and 2 other tables of 2. It took us 10 -15 minutes before out waitress even got to our table, to take our drink orders. She was not very happy that we got seated in her section. Then it was quite a long wait before we got our beer. Granted I was with 2 very pregnant women, but they did not demand too terribly much. (One of them was VERY disappointed at no fried pickles, but that is a moot point). The food came out fairly quickly after we ordered, but in the process, my roll was dropped but our waitress. One of our party members, asked for mayo for her sandwich she got, which she was almost done with when it was finally brought. I never received my roll, which may seem small, but it all adds up. It was 6:15 and we were ready to go, but it took forever to get our tickets. Once we did we were ready to pay the minute we got the tickets, because we were asked to be out by 6:30. Come 6:30 we still had not seen our waitress, and we had employees hovering over us, ready to move us out. We did not even get an opportunity to try the deserts. This experience did not give me that “Warm Fuzzy Feeling” that you normally associate with a great dining experience. As stated, A+ on the food, F- on the service.

I know exactly which server you had and she was terminated that night. That was her first and last night on the floor after a week of training. I could see her attitude was really, really bad. I am sorry to hear that her service was too.

I’ve always had great service here! I usually go for lunch on Fridays. They have a new Sister Sampler plate that is only $7.95 and you get a smaller sandwich or burger (which is actually still more than enough), a side, and a cupcake! I usually get the grilled chicked with gouda cheese sandwich on ciabatta and sweet potato fries for the side, but I’ve heard their mac ‘n cheese is amazing, so I’m going to have that next time. I’ve always gotten the chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and it is so rich and wonderful! I take it in a to-go box and eat it at my desk in the afternoon. A perfect treat to get through my Friday afternoon! Thank you 2 Sisters!

I’ve been to 2 Sisters several times and have always had an enjoyable experience…..if the service was slow I didn’t realize it because I was taken with the atmosphere of the place and the company I was in.
I’ve had to chicken fried ribeye also and it was awesome!
Love the unique mac & cheese and the fried pickles!
Thanks for a great dining experience Virginia! :-)

I want to let you know what Virginia did for my daughter & son in law’s 3rd wedding anniversary.
My son in law is home on his 2 weeks R&R from Afghanistan…..he will be leaving to go back on Dec 23rd.
I called Virginia yesterday to see if we could do something special for them, and let me tell you what this lady did!
She went home and got her own Christmas China and Crystal and tablecloth and
brought back to the restaurant and set them a very special table up……
that my friend goes above and beyond the call of duty!!!
Virginia is forever in my heart for helping make my daughter & son in law’s 3rd wedding anniversary unforgettable! :o )

This was my son in laws first trip to 2 Sisters and I’m sure it won’t be his last!
My daughter enoyed the tilapia and my son in law enjoyed the chicken fried ribeye and awesome mac & cheese and fried pickles.
Then Virginia GAVE them dessert….which they chose “To die for” and almost did! :o )
