Burgers by definition can be a simple thing, meat and cheese between buns, but we love to see how each restaurant has its own take on the perfect burger. Tulsa has had so many great burger joints and some that have been here for over a century. So with all that burger history in mind, we’ve put together an eclectic list highlighting Tulsa’s top burgers that we are constantly craving.
Claud’s is known for the classic burger joint atmosphere, with a total of only 14 seats in the restaurant. Their burger, however, seems to resonate even more with people. They’ve been a Tulsa hot spot since 1954 and it’s one of our favorite spots to find an old fashioned hamburger in Tulsa. 3834 S Peoria Ave, Tulsa, OK 74105
Brownie’s Hamburger Stand
A Tulsa dining institution since 1956, Brownie’s Hamburger Stand still has that same style and atmosphere as the day it opened. There are several reasons you’ll continue to crave Brownie’s after your visit – the Old Fashioned burgers, the house-made root beer, and their coconut pie. This is a burger experience with a cult following. 2130 S Harvard Ave, Tulsa, OK 74114
Brought to you by the McNellie’s Group, Howdy Burger is a new addition to Mother Road Market. Their idea is to pay tribute to the classic roadside burger stands that fed hungry travelers on Route 66 back in the day. They have the classic double patty cheeseburgers and fries topped with their delicious rodeo sauce. They also source all of their eggs and bacon from Prairie Creek Farm. 1124 S Lewis Ave Suite 109, Tulsa, OK 74104
Say hello to the new kid on the block. Society Burger is owned by the same people who brought us Rib Crib, so rest assured that it’s delicious and consistent. They have two locations, Cherry Street and 101st & Mingo, happily feeding all our midtown and South Tulsa bellies. They make their pickles in-house and have some seriously good milkshakes on the menu. They also source their buns from the local and beloved Pancho Anaya Bakery. We love their Classic burger but if you’re more of the adventurous type they have some really creative options like the ‘Everything’ burger and the Pim & Jam burger. 1419 E 15th St, Tulsa, OK 74120
Since its beginning, Ike’s has transitioned with Tulsa from oil field days to Route 66 days to current days, where some contend that Tulsa’s best bowl of chili can still be found. But what you may not have known is that they have several great burgers on their menu including the Jalapeno Bacon Burger, Hickory Burger, and the classic Ike’s Burger. One big reason why we love this place is because you can add their famous Ike’s chili to any of these already delicious burgers! 1503 E 11th St, Tulsa, OK 74115
SMOKE. Wood Fire Grill
SMOKE isn’t just the name on the sign out on the street, it’s that concept that permeates from the overall experience to the subtleties and nuances of flavors in each and every dish. The restaurant and bar have an understated swankiness to it. It’s an upscale pub atmosphere that is completely lacking in pretension and their Monday night $5 burgers is one of the best deals in Tulsa. Their pickles and ketchup are made in house and if you’re feeling a little “extra”, you can add their house smoked thick-cut bacon to your burger for only 2 bucks. 1542 E 15th St, Tulsa, OK 74120
PRHYME Downtown Steakhouse
Located in the bustling Tulsa Arts District, PRHYME is part of the Justin Thompson Restaurant Group and known for its Prime Steaks, however, they have some really great dishes on their bar menu including some creative burgers. They use only USDA prime beef that is ground fresh in house daily. Pictured above is one of our favorites, the Bleu Burger with portobello mushrooms, a crispy onion ring, and garlic aioli. Foodie tip: Visit them on a Monday or Tuesday for half off their bar menu. 111 N Main St, Tulsa, OK 74103
Flo’s Burger Diner
This classic diner located on Route 66 will take you back to the ’50s with its old fashioned atmosphere and friendly staff. They serve sinfully large cheeseburgers with crispy haystack onion rings that keep you coming back every time. Keep it simple with their Classic Cheeseburger or you can go crazy with stuffed crust, Bomb sauce, Jack Daniel’s sauce, The Bomb Burger or Spanish fries. Just be sure to leave some time for a nap after your meal at Flo’s Diner, we promise its worth it! 2604 E 11th St, Tulsa, OK 74104
We’ve included the Tavern Burger on our list for two main reasons, it’s a truly unique burger concoction and secondly, it’s damn good. They make it with ground short rib, chuck, and brisket topped with Stilton and a Mushroom Cognac Cream all on top of a Challah bun AND their house-cut shoestring fries topped with fried garlic and rosemary is the perfect side.If you dine with them after 9 pm, the burger is half-priced. 201 N Main St, Tulsa, OK 74103
Ron’s Hamburgers & Chili
Ron’s is a casual, seat yourself type of place that has been around for over 40 years, they now have over 15 locations in Tulsa, OKC, Texas and Arkansas. Their most popular burger is “Ron’s Special” (pictured above) made with onions fried into the meat and topped with bacon bits, a slice of cured ham, with american & pepper jack cheese. Foodie tip: Get the Spanish Fries with jalapeños and onions on the side. 1440 South Denver Ave W, Tulsa, OK 74119
If you’ve lived in Tulsa for any length of time, you probably have a few food memories at Weber’s Drive-In, they’ve been a Tulsa tradition since 1933 and are still located on Brookside. There’s nothing quite like enjoying their famous rootbeer in a frosted mug with a cheeseburger and fries while sitting on their patio on a nice day. 3817 S Peoria Ave, Tulsa, OK 74105
