Our QUESO Recipe for the Super Bowl

Life is full of important things… family, bills, Velveeta, your job, and for many FOOTBALL! Lets not forget the wonder that is a Mini Crock Pot. An amazing little kitchen appliance that works perfect for snack foods such as mini-wieners with Head-Country, queso cheese and other warm dips that we all love.

This is a perfect item to add to your list for the Super Bowl foods! It is truly delicious and really easy to experiment with.

We did not really measure anything out because it really is not necessary.Just make sure you fry up the Sausage roll before you add it to the cheese. See the pictures below.

    We added:

    • Lots of Velveeta
    • A Little Milk
    • Half a Can of Rotel … or more
    • Some Fresh Cilantro (Yum)
    • Sausage Roll (Add as much as you like, over time we ended up adding the whole thing as we added more Velveeta)

Private Label Ro-Tel? For shame! Should have used generic cheese product.

Dang you got me….. I love the real Ro-Tel. However, this time it was the store brand…. Snow storm rations.

        Thanks

    Cheddar Cheese on my Keyboard

Not sure why I take so many random food pictures… so here you go. This is a picture of some Cheddar Cheese next to my keyboard taken with my iPhone. I actually had it by my computer to look up the brand…couldn’t find anything. I later enjoyed this cheese on some crackers with mustard and a few pickles. Yum!

Tasty Hors d’oeuvre or Just Plan Gross

This afternoon I was experimenting on some treats in the kitchen for a party this weekend. I was thinking I should share my love for Chick-fil-A Sauce with everyone.

FYI I love to mess around in the kitchen…not always like this. I think that if I could make something really good with Chick-fil-A Sauce for a party that would be really cool!

    Any Ideas?????

    Here is:

    Cracker
    Chicken
    Asiago Cheese
    Bread & Butter Pickle
    Chick-fil-A Sauce

At the Stock Pot Cheese Class Now

I’m at the Stock Pot in the cheese class. Just had the Purple Haze (Cypress Grove) tastes awesome. This cheese has fennel pollen…tastes like spring air after a long rain. Very good!

I wonder what cheeses The Cheese Wench would recommend for my burgers (and why)?

    • Mark 2:52 pm on October 29, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Joe, try Rogue Blue on your burger…. it’s awesome. The Cheese Wench and I ate at the Rogue Brewery pub in SF and split a kobe burger (cooked med rare, closer to rare) topped with their Creamery blue. Let’s just say if I’ve had a better burger I don’t remember it…..the cheese just took the burger to another level. Amazing. My chin was dripping in lush juices….

Joe, in additon to blue, try Carr Valley Applewood Smoked Cheddar. The richness of the smoke flavor with the full-cheddar flavor work beautifully with burgers, especially if it has bacon on it!

Also, Sparkenhoe Farm Red Leicester is an excellent choice. A delicious English farmstead cheese with lots of great zing! I love it on a grilled cheese sandwich with red onion and tomato, so it is a natural choice for a burger.

Finally, “Kaltbach” or cave-aged Gruyere is the perfect choice for a burger with mushrooms. Rich, nutty and full-flavored, it is a gorgeous example of a raw-milk alpine cheese.

      Cheers!
