Who would have ever guessed that La Hacienda on Brookside has an amazing chicken sandwich? Who goes to a Mexican place and orders a chicken sandwich anyway? :p I hear they have a good burger too… try it for yourself! By the way their Chili Relleno might be the best in town!

I just got back from lunch at the NEW Sage Rage Melt Bar on Brookside and I had to share the experience that I am already craving to repeat.

I found this spot a few weeks ago while making my daily drive down Peoria. Initially I was drawn in by the cute pink sign and thought I’d stop in. Nancy greeted me with a smile and happily gave me a to go menu, which is as cute at their sign! After looking it over I decided I HAD to try it.
Their menu isn’t filled with the usual Mexican fare we find in Tulsa, they have unique items like pumpkin enchiladas and stuffed jalapenos. The salsa they serve is even different than what you may find all over town, its chunky, more like a pico de gallo and they have a few other salsas if you just ask.
I highly recommend their tacos! Their carne asada and barbacoa are perfectly seasoned and their tacos are dressed authentically with cilantro and onion on a corn tortilla. You can join them on Tuesdays for their cleverly named “Juan” dollar taco night.

Walk into Wolfgang Puck this week and you’ll find the place buzzing with excitement. The place is packed. “There’s a 45 minute wait at least,” the hostess told the party in front of us. But I had a reservation so I breezed right in. Wolfgang Puck opened for lunch this week, and Puck sent some of his top chefs and corporate execs out from Los Angeles to supervise the rollout. They stick around each night to help prepare dinner, and the kitchen is at the top of its game. (Of course it always is). My braised short ribs, always excellent, were magically addictive; my friend ordered the special, a pork chop, and it was fine too. This weekend begins the new brunch menu. Eggs Benedict with prosciutto or with crab cakes, Bananas Foster and more. The L.A. crowd should be around through the weekend. It’s a great time to visit Wolfgang Puck.
Wolfgang Puck Bistro is now open for lunch. Seven days a week from 11 AM to 2 PM. The lunch menu features some of the less expensive entrees and pastas from the dinner menu. You pay dinner prices but you can still get a big bowl of delicious pasta for $9. Sandwiches are also available (meatloaf, chicken aioli, burger, shrimp club and more), and you can get a cup of soup plus half a sandwich or a salad for $9. Check out the menu:
On weekends, it’s brunch! Try Eggs Benedict with Prosciutto di Parma, Banana Foster, Crab Cakes and more!

Gemma’s Woodfire Kitchen opened in the space left by the late lamented Caramel Bakery. They offer pizza, grilled meat, and, since Steven Howard, the creator of KoKoa, is in the kitchen, great desserts.

I had lunch there last Thursday and the food and service
was great. I had the homemade Carrot soup, to die for, and a small
Shrimp and Cabbage pizza. Very different, great sauce, very good. I
can’t wait to go again.
It is SO delicious. I had the roasted chicken and goat cheese salad and a fig and chicken pizza. My husband had salmon with curry cream sauce which was also amazing. Such a fun new place!
I just ate a fabulous dinner at Gemma’s. Linguini with scallops, shrimp, squid, mussels, crab legs, fish and pancetta in a tangy lobster broth ($18).
Open for lunch and dinner Tues through Sat.

I haven’t been to the Bistro in a while, but when I and a good friend stopped by tonight, we were greeted like old friends. The super-professional service is as good as always. They’ve been running some off-menu specials lately. (Some nights, though not tonight, they have braised lamb shank.) I ordered one of tonight’s specials (the other was spaghetti and meatballs). It was a perfectly cooked cod filet ($18) perched atop spaghetti with a light tomato sauce accented by clam juice and bacon. Around the spaghetti were six littleneck clams in their shells. It was simply superb. Then came dessert. An apple tart, a whole mini-pie of phyllo dough with elegantly sliced tart apples on top, with ice cream ($6), and a lemon curd tart with raspberry sauce. Thank you Wolfgang Puck and Tara for the perfect Christmas Eve!

A few weeks back after reading reviews by Brian Schwartz about The Kitchen restaurant on Brookside we had to hit this Tulsa hot spot.
We decided to try lunch. The star of our lunch experience was the meatloaf sandwich. This sandwich includes Center 1 meatloaf (Which is famous around Tulsa), farmhouse cheddar, arugula and mayonnaise. The way the cheese is melted on the meatloaf locks in flavors in a way that will surprise you once you take a bite. I also recommend ordering the Center 1 meatloaf for takeout.
