Always Ask for the Local Brew

When traveling or at home, consider asking for the locally crafted beers when dining out. This simple idea struck me when I discovered some of my favorite brews in my own backyard. That particular find for me was Marshall Brewing Co. in Tulsa. Marshall offers 6 local beers which includes a few seasonal brews. Just enough to mix and match with some of my favorite dishes and then the few seasonal beers give me something to look forward to. Read more about Marshall Brewing Company by visiting  their website here > marshallbrewing.com

This winter, we traveled to Angle Fire, New Mexico for a Ski trip and found a great local beer from the Comanche Creek Brewing Company while at the Sunset Grill. The company is run by a husband Wife team out of an old cabin in a nearby town – Eagles Nest, NM. I had their main brew, The Homestead Amber Ale, which comes from a formula made by the founder’s grandfather. A sweet, malty and full bodied beer that hit the spot on a cold day. The sweetness surprised me with the way it was balanced out with subtle hoppy flavors. This beer was one that I wouldn’t mind having in my fridge all the time to share with friends. I think it has a lot of potential to be discovered and loved by the masses.

This beer went great with the Fish N Chips I ordered at the SunSet Grill on the base of the slopes in Angle Fire, NM.

Beer that Tastes Like Chocolate Milk

If you love stout beers like I do you will love it too. My buddy Mark introduced me to this magnificent beer… and it had changed me! This milky creation from Left Hand Brewing will change the way you think about what a beer can be.

I love a company like Left Hand that takes their brews a step further into the world with delicious sounding recipes to go with each of their brews.

Choc’s Winter Ale at the Bistro At Seville – South Tulsa

One of my favorite things about Choc Beer is their variety of seasonal beers. Today, with a friend, we enjoyed Choc’s Winter Ale at The Bistro at Seville in South Tulsa on Yale. The Winter Ale is a delicious full-bodied beer that tastes like winter in a glass to me.
