BurnCo BBQ – Just Keeps Getting Better

Dropped back by BurnCo BBQ, across from TU where Ella’s Deli use to be. Today’s special was their Prime Rib Sandwich. The Prime Rib was cooked to perfection.

New sides at BurnCo BBQ include Slaw and Grilled Potato Salad. The slaw is good. Went great on the Prime Rib Sandwich. Now the Grilled Potato Salad – the absolute BEST I’ve ever had. Okay, maybe I haven’t had Grilled Potato Salad before but this was AMAZING. Chunks of grilled potatoes, onions, carrots with chunks of BACON – I know! Kind of like a grilled german potato salad. I could live off of this. Want more now.

Chicory & Chives Cafe – Crawfish Po’Boy & Fat Tuesday Burger

Thanks to C&CC’s (that’s Chicory & Chives Cafe) Facebook postings (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Chicory-Chives-Cafe/135696866543) had to make my way there to try their Crawfish Po’Boy. Dining friend (who will remain nameless) had the Fat Tuesday Burger (burger with grilled Andouille sausage and topped with Cajun BBQ sauce). Both made for a mighty fine lunch.  Thanks Jim!

Brian, it really was. Thought the sausage would be too much on the burger but it wasn’t by any means. Added a nice sausage snap to the burger experience. The Cajun BBQ Sauce was great both on the burger and the Po’Boy.

We must have just missed you guys. We were there Saturday night and had the alligator and Shakin’ Shrimp appetizers. Both were excellent. The alligator was tender and not all all chewy or rubbery, like every other alligator I’ve had. Loved the shrimp…in fact, our polite party of four was fighting to get our “equal share.”

My husband had the salmon (very good) and I had the shrimp and grits (again – because it’s awesome). Our dining partners had the Bayou pasta and the Fat Tuesday Burger.

None of us were crazy about the Cajun BBQ because of a weird spice (Thyme, we think), but we could have doused the Shakin’ Shrimp sauce on everything. It was so amazing. The owner really should make the Shakin’ Shrimp a dinner entree’.

    Cast Iron Skillet Pizza

My version of a deep dish. Overnight cold rise in the fridge for my dough. Worked great.  Had some leftover spicy taco meat and added caramelized onions.  Family loved it.

    Brunch Pizza with an Egg

Thanks to the Condiment Queen I had to make some of these.  Had leftover pizza dough (made a double batch). Had leftover Béchamel Sauce (cheese sauce from mac & cheese that I haven’t baked yet).  Added the egg (like the Condiment Queen said, a large egg is too big, had to remove half of the white). Sprinkled with proscutto and chorizo, salt & pepper.  Paired with a Mimosa – what a great Super Bowl Brunch.

    Pizza Time!

Fixing to pull my pizza out of the oven. Home made pizza dough, local organic grass fed mozzarella, prosciutto, chorizo, and caramelized onions.

    Hank’s, Harden’s, Freddie’s, Steakfinger House, Arnold’s, Billy’s, Atlas Grill, McNellie’s, Palace Cafe, The Daily Grill, Bros Houligan, White Owl, Linda-Mar, Freddy’s, Ralph’s, Moonsky’s, Steak ‘n Shake

I hear Moonsky’s is good from some other reviews. Out of the list I wanna try that one just because Ive never really heard much about in. Is it really inside a Daylight Donuts? If so that’s cool!

I wonder if they will make me a burger with the bun replaced by a donut?

Freddie’s Frozen Custard makes an excellent burger, they’re thin, but very juicy, and the fries are excellent as well.

Arnold’s is great too, and walking into Arnold’s is like going back in time! Be sure to get the onion rings!

      • Joe Price 11:22 am on October 23, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Debbie, thanks for the tip on the onion rings at Arnold’s. Would have hated to miss that. I’m also looking forward to Freddie’s juicy thin burger.

As I told Brian the other evening I love Harden’s. Both are excellent althought the one of 5th and Sheridan can be a little hit and miss. It was very hit and miss about two years ago. I prefer the location at German Corner in Owasso, 116th and N. Garnett. It’s a drive from mid-town but it’s a solid burger.

Another hidden gem is Shorty’s in Turley. 66th and N. Peoria. Love the fried okra there!

          • Brian 12:19 pm on October 23, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Nice, I’ve never been to Shorty’s. Have you had it Joe? Can’t wait to try that one too! Thanks Mark!

          • Joe Price 12:25 pm on October 23, 2009 Permalink | Reply

I haven’t heard of Shorty’s in Turley. Sounds like a short road trip could be in my future.

            • Mark 1:27 pm on October 23, 2009 Permalink

I just returned from Harden’s in Owasso. Not happy. Burger was overcooked badly and for third time in a row they added mustard!… it’s lucky they have credit with me for many satisfying burgers in years past…..
