The Polo Grill is one of the most decorated and revered restaurant in Oklahoma having won multiple local, state and national honor for both their food and wine selections. One of the top meals I’ve ever had was at The Polo Grill in Utica Square consisting of the chef’s tasting menu a while back. The highlight of the meal that night was the Chef bringing every course out to us and the Rack of Lamb that was one of around seven courses. I’ve dreamed of that Rack of Lamb ever since. Last night a couple of friends and I decided to stop by The Polo Grill for a bite to eat and I had to go back to the Rack of Lamb.
We started off the evening with a very nice Pinot Noir and Champagne. Both were amazing.
Colorado Rack of Lamb with Asparagus, Stone Ground Grits, and Pistachio Jalapeno Apple Mint Relish
The Rack of Lamb was as great as I remembered, cooked to a perfect medium/medium rare. The accompanying stone ground grits, asparagus, and pistachio jalapeno apple mint relish put the meal over the top. I really loved the grits and relish. My big disappointment was forgetting to bring home the bones so that my dog and I could fight over them.

Chocolate Lava with Coffee Bean Ice Cream

Bread Pudding
We decided to split a couple of deserts – one consisting of the Chocolate Lava with Coffee Bean Ice Cream and the other being the Bread Pudding. The chocolate lava was good but the star was the coffee bean ice cream. I would order the coffee bean ice cream by itself. I’m a bread pudding addict, but this bread pudding was just okay since it was a little dry and not very hot. This still did not distract from the wonderful mean we had.
Till next time you luscious Rack of Lamb.

I’m just a not so average Joe that loves his burgers. This is my search for the perfect burger. My mission is to search and inform one burger at a time. A burger consists of ground meat with a bun, condiments and toppings. From that the whole burger world is a journey.
I love all types of burgers, all thicknesses, different cheeses, prefer mayo on top to pair with the cheese and sometimes mustard on bottom to enhance the meat. I normally go with an american or cheddar cheese but will sometimes completely blow the whole taste experience and go with a blue cheese (which I love). I prefer grilled or broiled for thicker burgers while the griddle works best for thin. Must have a good sear. If the burger is medium or thick then juiciness is a must which is partially determined by the fat content (minimum 80/20 blend) and the degree the meat is cooked. If the meat or restaurant is of high quality I will go with either medium or medium rare doneness. The bun must be fresh and prefer toasted but any type of bun works for me. I love onions on my burger (grilled or fried) but normally skip the lettuce and tomato (if I wanted a fricking salad I’d order one).

Polo Grill has always been one of my favs. I loved Ouida’s “La Cuisine” and then Polo Grill (especially since it brought back some of my favs from La Cuisine). Some of my fondest childhood memories were made in those dining rooms. To a 5-year old, The tomato bisque, grilled Salmon and the baked tortellini were the best foods ever (aside of course from frog legs and Mother’s “Drunk Bananas”). To a 30 year old chef and food junkie, it still remains one of my favs in town, and my favorite salmon dish is still made exactly how my fuzzy 25 year-old memories of Ouida’s tasted. I don’t get down there nearly enough. I think it’s time. Look out little lamb, here I come!

I have to apologize for the picture quality, was taken with my iPhone and the Polo Grill is rather dark. But I’m telling ya, that rack of lamb was crazy good.
BTW – heard from reliable sources (i.e. directly from Marshall’s) that Marshall’s Brewery is planning a beer pairing with the Polo Grill. I will not miss that.

I’m curious what the price range is at Polo? Like average per person.
~~Those are AWESOME pictures, I can’t believe you used an I-phone to take that. MMMM Lamb.

For the average price? My wife and I ate there and had some wine ($20 worth maybe?) and our bill was about $140 with desert.
I’ll say we ate at Booby Flay’s Mesa Grill in Vegas twice this place is every bit as good. Hands down the best steak/lamb/pork in Tulsa.
