Baker St. Pub and Grill – Now Open

April 30th, 2010 by Staff – Comments (13)

Something interesting and unique has just hit the super-busy area around 71st and Memorial. Before we even walked into Baker St. Pub & Grill we were impressed. The outdoor patio is not what you would expect to find in this area of town. Super-nice patio furniture and a cool built-in fire-pit all in a nice stylized area…its even got one of those cool red phone booths you might find in London. When we first walked into this pub we were met with a hostess who was nice and a little confused. I say confused because all I wanted to do was take pictures of the outstanding decor that covered this place. You can tell they spent a lot of time and thought into the decoration of this place. each and every little corner of the restaurant, great detail was paid to the smallest things as you can see from the pictures. This is one of those places that wouldn’t be hard to go any night of the week and find a cozy place where you can feel a little secluded in one of their unique booths. The atmosphere is just plain cool.

“They’re professionals at this in Russia, so no matter how many Jell-O shots or Jager shooters you might have downed at college mixers, no matter how good a drinker you might think you are, don’t forget that the Russians – any Russian – can drink you under the table.”

We were looking forward to hanging out at BSP on Friday, 11-18-11 to watch the OSU/Iowa State football game having been there before for other sporting events. Knowing that BSP has live music on most nights, we called to verify that they would be showing the game and airing the audio that night. A staff member assured us that they would so, expecting a large crowd, we had a relative secure a good table two hours before game time. When the game came on at 7pm, we asked several servers if they would have the audio changed from some sketchy music to the game audio. After several tries, we asked for the manager who informed us that “it’s company policy to not change the audio to sporting events on Friday and Saturday nights”. When we asked what time the band would be playing, he said “around 9:45pm” (nearly 3 hours into the game). Pointing out that there were 8-10 tables of fans dressed in OSU gear, we asked him one more time if he thought it was good business to not air the audio, at least until it was time for the live music to get going but he assured us that he would not be changing company policy. As we continued to try to persuade him, he stated, “WE ARE NOT A SPORTS PUB!”. When I pointed out the big screen TV and a multitude of other TVs hanging around the bar and the dining room that were ALL showing sporting events, he assured me once again that “WE ARE NOT A SPORTS PUB”. It is our opinion that the manager failed to recognize an opportunity to connect with a significant number of customers, all there to watch the game, drink and eat. As such, we, along with many others present, migrated to the FOX AND HOUND, located at 68th and Garnett to watch the game along with hundreds of other OSU fans with the audio not only up in the main rooms but in the restrooms as well. Needless to say, we will not patronize an establishment which turns a deaf ear to their customers even after providing misleading information. Be aware that Baker Street Pub, Tulsa IS NOT A SPORTS PUB! We suggest avoiding it for important sporting events like the upcoming Bedlam battle on December 3rd, 2011.

Does Baker Street have a separate area or room for large lunch groups, say 20 to 30 people?

Fried shrimp and wings are awesome! Really good tartar sauce which is hard to find usually in a restaurant.

I have a eaten here only once. I had the fish and chips, it was just okay, kind of greasy. In my opinion, the atmosphere is the star. The decor is so interesting
