Stone Mill Barbecue: Great Barbecue and Homemade Desserts

February 3rd, 2009 by Jim Bigelow – Comments (3)

Just took my Daughter and her fiancé to dinner at Stone Mill Barbecue and Steak house and wow what a meal. If you have not tried this place you need to; the Barbecue was great and so were the steaks ( I sample some of every kind), oh and HOME MADE deserts, pies, cobblers. I had a fillet steak that was not only tender, but also had great flavor and not an ounce of fat anywhere on it. As a steak lover, was maybe the best steak I have eaten in Tulsa. You know it’s going to be great the second you cut into it. My Daughter ordered grilled salmon and loved it. She never uses the sauces that come with Salmon but loved the butter sauce that came with this order. My future son in law had an order of baby back ribs which were moist, tender, grease and fat free and best of all they did not give you indigestion afterward ’ plus the portion was so generous he took home the leftovers. You know you are eating in a good place when the ice tea is freshly brewed and tastes good, it was actually better than good. I apologize for not having any photographs of the food as it looked as good as it tasted. The presentation was wonderful, but I did not realize until I started writing this I did not have my flash turned on and they all turned out dark ’ What a disappointment for me. It was nice.

The servers were good and very friendly and did not hover over you while the atmosphere was like visiting a log cabin in Colorado including a huge 2 sided fireplace. On one side is the family dining area and on the other side is a lounge (bar) dining area. They also cater small and large functions where ever you want them to go.

The owners Steve and Debbie Ohman actually came out and talked with us and told us how they smoke the meat in a closed system using very little wood and being environmentally friendly. I don’t know but would that mean this is a green Restaurant? (Just kidding). The Ohman’s really did build this themselves Steve designed and supervised every detail of construction and both have been managing the operations every since. Just ask them and they will share their picture of the construction with you.

My recommendation is TRY IT. The meat is top of the line as is all the products I tried. I WILL BE GOING BACK’¦..Count on it.

Stone Mill has to be one of the area’s best kept secrets! I hadn’t been in the Tulsa area for 3 years and could not wait to get back to Stone Mill. I had expected to see traffic lined up to get into the parking lot – not so.

Do yourself a favor and enjoy their great food before the lines get long. Great staff still serving the best food.

I’ve had them smoke 2 turkey, both times they turned out great.
For an extra $5 they’ll carve it up for you too.
