This last weekend was exciting for me because my cousin got married. I thought that he and his now wife would be the only star of the show. The unexpected star was, however, the delicious and perfectly suited three tiered wedding cake that they had.

I have always enjoyed wedding cake immensely. This wedding cake contained three square shaped tiers, alternating chocolate and vanilla, covered with buttercream icing that just melts in your mouth. My favorite part, though, was the way it was decorated. It was not one of those extravagant cakes that you see at some weddings but rather shown with an understated elegance. It was decorated with buttercream designs and strawberry slices around the edges. I was lucky enough to get a strawberry with my piece of cake and it really help punctuate the delicious flavor of the cake. I only wish there would have been more strawberries on the side.
I did some quick investigating and found that it came from Ann’s Bakery. Ann’s Bakery is a Tulsa cake legend since 1938, that specializes in special occasion cakes. At Ann’s they offer much more than just wedding cakes. The talented decorators at Ann’s can create cakes in nearly any motif that you want, reminding me of some of my favorite Food Network cake shows. I can’t wait until the next time I need a cake, because I know where I am going to get it: Ann’s Bakery.

What a gorgeous cake. That had to be hard to cut into. Hopefully it tasted as good as it looks. Whoever made that should get an award.
