Walking around Brookside is always fun. With so many cool shops, restaurants and interesting people, it’s a great way to get a little exercise and enjoy being outside. This was especially true on Saturday. The lovely weather beckoned me to stroll around the area. So, I parked my car and was on my way.
Feeling my keen chocolate sensors kicking on, I started looking for someplace that had a stellar, calorie-laden, decadent chocolate dessert. I found it! I found something (actually someone) else too.
As I was just about to step inside Wolfgang Puck’s, I eyed Leon’s across the street. Since Mitch Neely (formerly of The Alley) started as executive chef there this past Monday, I decided to check it out.
Indeed, this trendy sports bar had a fantastically moist, rich chocolate cake, frosted with a luscious chocolate buttercream, all atop decoratively piped chocolate and raspberry sauces. The coffee was good too.
I was lucky enough to get to chat briefly with Chef Neely. While keeping much of the old menu, he will be updating some items in addition adding a few new items. Everything will be made from scratch. According to Neely, the new menu will be out on October 1.
Whether you frequent Brookside or haven’t been in years, make a point to go to Leon’s and try the new menu. Oh, and if you’re lucky enough, they’ll have some of that chocolate cake too!
