The Weekly Feed – November 30 through December 6

By on November 30, 2016

This week kicks off the official countdown to the New Year and Tulsa is rising to the occasion. A wine dinner at Biga Restaurant with some French flair. A couple of special breakfasts are planned – one at Mixed Company and one at the Tulsa Zoo. Both are sure to be wildly entertaining experiences, but in totally different ways. If you’re looking to make a splash with your holiday cocktail repertoire this year, The Vault’s monthly cocktail class is putting a holiday spin on some classics. And speaking of cocktails, one of Tulsa’s best spots for a craft cocktail, Valkyrie, is throwing a fancy party to celebrate Repeal Day.

Holiday Cocktail Class at The Vault
Wednesday, November 30 6:30-8:30 p.m.
‘Tis the season for upping your holiday cocktail game and The Vault is throwing a holiday twist on their cocktail class this month. This is a great time to gather up a bunch of friends and spend an educational (and ridiculously fun!) evening together, while enjoying four wintry cocktails – like the Geri Haliwell, a vodka cocktail with ginger raspberry shrub, or a classic Manhattan. The class is only $30 per person and is held in The Vault’s gorgeous main dining room. So enhance your libation education and reserve a spot now by calling 918-948-6761.

Second Annual Repeal Day Celebration at Valkyrie
Saturday, December 4  4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
There were some dark, dry days in America during the time of Prohibition. But, on December 5, 1933, the booze flowed freely again. To celebrate this important occasion, Valkyrie is putting on a smashing shindig, encouraging patrons to “dress fancy.” Valkyrie is the perfect place to clink glasses and toast our constitutional right to drink a great damn cocktail. Champagne toasts and general revelry can be expected throughout the evening. Don’t miss this raucous affair and commemorate the day with one of Valkyrie’s top-notch libations.

Breakfast with Santa at Tulsa Zoo
Saturday, December 3 (and December 10) 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
Have breakfast with the big guy himself, Santa Claus, in the wildest place in Tulsa. The Tulsa Zoo invites you to round up your critters for a morning meet-and-greet with Santa that also includes a breakfast buffet, arts and crafts, UNLIMITED train rides (!), and up-close encounters with some of the animals who call the zoo home. Registration *is* required before the event, so visit them online here or call 918-669-6634. Cost is $29 for non-members and $5 for kiddos under 3 years old and includes breakfast, photos with Santa and all-day admission to the zoo. The breakfast buffet will include waffles, bacon and eggs, along with eggs, pastries and fruit. This will be a great opportunity for holiday photos, so bring your camera!

Haus of Mimosa at Mixed Company
Sunday, December 4 11:00 a.m.
Add a little (or a lot!) of glamour to your brunch repertoire and celebrate the holidays with the fabulous Queens of Drag, Haus of Mimosa. Mixed Company will be serving up their killer brunch and, of course, lots of bubbles (Chambong, anyone?) while the fabulous duo of Anita M. Buffen and Gina Marie Rittale “play two gossiping gals with Long Island drawls who coffee talk their way into side-splitting musical numbers.” These NYC gals perform at venues all over the country and Mixed Company has them for one day only. This event WILL sell out and the 11:00 a.m. show is the only showtime left, so buy tickets pronto, honey!
