“It’ll be nice visiting a BBQ place with some good brews to accompany this type of food,” I said to myself as I passed by.

A flash of history, Action Erection is actually a construction company. The very same that had to demolition Knotty Pine after the fire. The owner of the construction company decided he wanted to open his own BBQ joint thus bringing to life “Action Erection Beer and BBQ” just this past December.
I had the pleasure of meeting BG, the manager. Wonderfully lady, very helpful, and she said to be sure to try the brisket. Can’t go wrong with that!
The plate was brought out to me and it was stacked! My eyes were devouring the meal before me. Can’t wait to dig into this plate. Wish I had a good beer though. Sadly, I ordered a water. The beer list was dismal and consisted of just a couple Budweiser products. Alcoholic seltzer water does not pair well with BBQ, in my opinion.

I’ll start with the “just ok”. The pulled pork, maybe it was just an off day, but it was dry for my taste and lacked quality flavor. Nothing a little sauce can’t cover up though. Other than that, the meal was just fine. The baked beans were light, but with good sugars and spices. The brisket was so tender, it literally flaked apart. Other places fail at making a great potato salad because they throw too many extras masking the main ingredient…potatoes. Their potato salad was earthy and tangy and simple, just the way I like it. You could actually taste the potatoes! The sauces offered were wonderful as well, which are house made. The portions were plentiful. I couldn’t finish it all and they almost had to bring out the dolly to wheel me to my car. I “rolled” out of there very pleased.
The only stickler is if you’re going to have a title that has “Beer” in it, then you probably should have some good brews. A good porter, dunkel, American brown ale, amber ale, or brown lager has a perfect affinity for ribs, brisket, and the sweet and spicy sauces they offer. An American wheat beer or hefeweizen would work wonders with that tangy potato salad.
They are a brand new restaurant though. I had a talk with the manager and the owner and they will be looking into bringing in new beers soon. I’m looking forward to going back.

I’m a home cook with a little professional dabbling experience. A lover of craft beer! And if you don’t know about craft beer, then you will. Effervescent, vivacious, flavorful, and extremely wonderful. Happiness in a bottle….or can. Craft beer is an amazingly diverse and complex drink. Around one hundred different styles of beer in the world and thousands of breweries. A booming industry right now in America! And still, craft beer is deserving of MUCH greater culinary respect than it has been receiving.
I believe there is a beer for everyone and a beer for every delectable dish out there. I believe it stands up to wine just as well and even better in the culinary world. Cooking, pairing, drinking, and education. I hope to bring some useful knowledge into the foodie world concerning great beer with great food. Not everything is about beer, but it sure does make it better. Cheers!

Went there about 2 months ago. Had the Ribs and brisket with coleslaw and corn. The meat had no smoke taste at all. It needed the bbq sauce for taste in which they had poured all over the meat for you. I prefer my sauce on the side. A good bbq doesn’t need much sauce. The meat was tender, but I think they bake their meats. Asked our server about the potato salad and she said it is store bought. So I tried the coleslaw which was very mushy. They were trying to make baked beans and brought out a sample for our table. They used some type of white beans and it had too much garlic taste. Don’t think I will go back, unless they have made some big changes.

Is that the old Knotty Pine location? Do you know if they have plans to relocated or rebuild?

Agree with Sky. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of hot link. After a somewhat long wait, it came out chopped brisket. Meat was a bit dry and flavorless but better with sauce, as Sky said. I love cole slaw and asked if it was more wet/soupy or dry. Waitress told me it was wet. It was, but again, no flavor. Had to pile on the pepper to give it some pizzaz. And I tried the beans so I’d know whether to come back. White navy-style beans bound together in a thick tomato sauce. Absolutely no BBQ taste or real flavor at all. When paying the hostess asked how things were… I told her I ordered pork and got brisket, and the sides were not very good. She gave me a $20.00 gift certificate so I’d come back, but I’ll probably give it to somebody instead.
