After hearing several people rave about The Great Wall, I had to give it a shot. The building itself is nothing special with a smell that is a little musty and in desperate need of a coat of paint. The staff was very nice and helpful though. For starters we ordered some of their homemade cheese wontons which were pretty much amazing. They were cooked perfectly and the cheese inside was flawlessly creamy. They had a sweet orange sauce which complimented the taste of the crispy shell with the creaminess of the cheese.
I ordered the Szechwan Shrimp, which was good but by no means fabulous. It wasn’t as spicy and flavorful as I prefer. One of my guests had General Tso’s Chicken which was wonderful. It too could have had more heat but had a very good flavor and was unanimously voted the best dish at the table. My last guest had the orange Chicken. It had a good flavor but was a bit on the bland side. After visiting with the waiter we realized we should have ordered everything extra hot. It was definitely worth the trip however next time we are going to make sure to ask for things extra hot and probably just take it to go.

I used to go here almost weekly — but only ordered the Mongolian Barbecue (this used to be the only place that offered it, but that’s changed). This was always very good, especially when you could stuff the results into the sesame biscuits they served. Egg rolls and hot and sour soup were also quite above average. Never ordered off the menu, though.

I agree with jwatts, mongolian barbeque stuffed into those delicious biscuits is the way to go! And be sure to throw a bit in Micheal’s tip jar if you do- he is in that hot little box all day!
Come to think of it, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a menu…

You ordered three “American-style” Chinese dishes. They’re not going to be spicy and are almost always fried. Try to order something more exotic (and traditional) like Twice-Cooked Pork. That’s where Great Wall turns from good to excellent.

The Great Wall is some of the best Mongolian Bar-B-Q I have found in Tulsa. The way you get to customize your sauce and ingredients exactly to custom flavor makes such a difference. I also second Jordon’s comment about trying some other variety if you choose to order off the menu rather than the Mongolian Bar-B-Q.
